Artist Statement "To me, music is like flowers, each type is beautiful and unique in it's own way. You can't only like roses, and music is the same way. You should listen to as many different styles and artists, old and new, as you possibly can."
Bio Grandon's style of playing is extremely broad, using all types of techniques including standard finger style, slap, picking, two hand tapping and rhythm & melody playing (he includes a two handed version of the Charlie Brown theme "Linus and Lucy" in his live solo), and even flamenco guitar techniques. He incorporates rock, jazz, fusion, country, celtic, and classical styles in his playing. His sound is unique and aggressive, and at the same time extremely varied with his creative use of some vintage equipment, custom wiring of his basses and custom built speaker cabinets. " I wire my own instruments and build my own cabinets for certain applications as it is the only way I can get the aggressive tone and variety of sounds and frequencies that I need" says Grandon.
Career Highlights/Vital Stats The latest CD from Dodd Michael Lede, "Whatever Happened to You" is now available on Sonic Smack Records, and I am featured an several of the tracks! I flew to Houston for the recording sessions at Space City Sounds. Get a copy of the new CD and check it out on Dodd's site at www.generic-joe.com. The CD is also available online at CD Street, and also at CD Baby. I am scheduled to record the bass lines for the next Dodd Lede release due out during the 2002 Holiday season. I started laying down the bass tracks in September, and am scheduled at Space City Sounds to continue the remaining tracks in November. Initial recording has also begun for my first solo project titled "Basket Case". I have confirmed John Silipo for all of the keyboard tracks and Andy Zuniga for drums and percussion. The deal is inked to release the album on Sonic Smack records, thanks to my bass work for Dodd on that label. The project will include some of my earlier work like "Love is cruel / let it ride" and "Fumblestix", as well as some new stuff still in the works. Keep checking back for updates, studio photos, and mp3 files of the initial studio work!
