Bio
I was introduced to playing the guitar at age nine years old. I was shown a few licks of a song called 'Honky Tonk' by a friend. I didn't learn the rest of the song until i was twelve.I was born in Middletown,Ohio between Dayton and Cincinnati. My family moved to Dayton which is a much larger city and had a great many bands, gospel ,Blues & R&B singers tons of good musicians and big shows in town.I started writing songs in the fifth grade and i wrote one about my teacher for the last day of school. At twelve i started playing for gospel groups,at church's and at thirteen i played my first blues gig with a local blues star 'Piney Brown'.My mother's side of the family were the musicians. My mom sung in the choir and she played piano and my aunts sang in church and played piano and organ,my moms brothers played sax, trumpet and trombone played in the military and church.I travelled to many cities with bands and gospel singers until seventeen then i had my own band called 'The Ohio Twisters'.With the various groups i performed in Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta,Pittsburg, Louisville,Indianapolis and many other cities and was still in high school. I had two bands while in the army.I had a german band that i went on tour with on my leave from my military post. I had a band also made up of my military buddies who could play and sing. I would get off of guard duty or KP if my battalion commander was having a party because he would want me and my band to perform for the officers parties .I went on the road with a USO tour to other military facilities to entertain the troops.I went on the road with my german band on tour with a famous german band at the time.I was asked to join the group 'Heat Wave' a year before moving to La. I was insecure about moving to england at the time, a year later i went to La. to audition for singer' Bobby Womack' but was hired by 'Barry White' because his office was in the same building at the time and he auditioned me first. You can learn more about me at my site: interjazz.com/emmettnorthjr. and some of the other sites listed. I hope you'll enjoy the ride of my life experiences. There's much more bio at my official site at: www.interjazz.com/emmettnorthjr.,Chow Baby!
