Artist Statement "Hey! We wouldn't be here without you! A great big “Thanx!” goes out to all our loving fans!" “The gist of it is we're organic rock with rhythm and blues overtones, a vintage sound, and lush pop melodies. A great melting pot of traditional and experimental ideas! Very sexy music and vocals!" "I'll borrow a quote from Albert Einstein: "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds". Looking back, I often notice that what I thought was a big devastating mess actually led to a productive change in my path. Synchronicity is awesome, but you have to feel it and look for it, or you can easily miss it all together."
Bio Naked Violet is the dream child of Brigitte Miller, an accomplished singer/songwriter/poet who has been writing and performing songs since the late 1990’s. After the breakup of her Ft. Lauderdale based band, Violet Cowgirls, Brigitte continued her musical adventure by relocating to Texas where she played the Dallas coffeehouse scene. Then in 2003, missing the collective talents and experience of a band, Brigitte reformed a group under the new name, Naked Violet. After playing numerous shows, benefits, and festivals throughout the North Texas area, Naked Violet once again reformed in January 2004. After only a couple jam sessions with lead guitarist Sonny Wayne Hopper, bassist Anna Gosling, and drummer Tom Thornton, it became immediately apparent that this was the incarnation of the musical idea Brigitte had longed for. From Dallas, Sonny Wayne Hopper has been playing rock and blues in the DFW area for many years. His heavy influences create the hard edge Naked Violet is known for, while the emotion in his leads and phrasing create the purity in the underlying blues influence of the band. Anna Gosling, raised in Texas as a piano player, converted to the Fender P-Bass about ten years ago. Recent band experience includes the Barry McKenna Band, a local jam/cover band that played everything from free-form jazz and R&B, to vintage rock-n-roll. Anna credits that experience with her ability to freely adapt her bass style to match Naked Violet's music. Drummer Tom Thornton, born and raised in Albuquerque, began his band experience by cofounding the Dallas based band, the Tokyo Dogs. Later, after working on a few projects including a progressive metal band, Tom answered an ad posted by Brigitte, and the rest fell into place. Since it's re-inception in 2004, Naked Violet has been pursuing a rigorous playing and recording schedule, sharing the Naked Violet experience with a variety of people!

Influences/Similar To "Naked Violet? The short version? yea, ok - Naked Violet is a traditional rock band, with a hell of a lotta surprises!" "Elaborate? Well, Naked Violet's music consists of a vintage rock foundation, based on a hard-edged guitar sound that tends towards rhythm and blues, or even country at times. Additionally, acoustic guitar plants the band firmly across the folk, country, and pop-rock genres. The music is groundbreaking and beautifully familiar; melodic pop yet challenging and experimental. With an underlying drum-and-bass rhythm section that stays primarily on a traditional course, the exploration of unusually syncopated, yet simple beats give listeners reason to “move about”. The lead vocals are powerful, emotional, and beautiful, with a touch of southern crying and recited poetry. The thought-provoking lyrics, often of a questioning or spiritual nature, leave the listener captivated and moved. Naked Violet is a classic rock band, incorporating a surprising mix of avant-garde with organic, often falling back on touching moments and metal-like highlights, creating the total package of their unique sound.” "Howz that !"
